A striking sideboard attributed to A.A. Patijn, displays the refined geometric sensibility of Dutch design from the 1940's.
Two cabinet doors feature walnut veneer, with each panel showcasing the beautiful grain and colouration of the wood.
Curved side panels and a stepped plinth base create the softened geometric profile characteristic of the era, and a signature detail of this designer.
Centrally the sideboard features four drawers, which run smoothly, with the top felted draw featuring segmented cutlery compartments. Making this an ideal piece for a dining room, or even a bedroom.
Interior configuration includes adjustable shelving behind the cabinet doors, demonstrating practical storage solutions.
Brass hardware provides functional accents consistent with 1930s-1940s Dutch cabinet making.
The piece remains in original condition but has been very well looked after by its one previous owner, who transported this over from Amsterdam. There are some very small areas on one side of veneer chipping but otherwise this is in excellent condition, maintaining structural integrity while preserving the historical surface.
